Transgressive art is unwanted only until a value can be established, and the market seeks to establish that value in order to control the art.
In a capitalist society that commodifies everything, it may be that the only true outsider art is that for which there is no market.
As soon as what is considered outsider art is brought inside the system-- as soon as it gains its market-- it loses its outsider status.
Art that simply cannot be bought and sold, for whatever reason, has no value. And therein lies its value.
