![]() Still Lies Quiet Truth script by Antoinette LaFarge direction by Robert Allen sound design by Joe Ferrari Still Lies Quiet Truth [1998] was a theater work for which I adapted the script from an online performance series ("The Candide Campaign") by the Plaintext Players. Still Lies Quiet Truth is a surreal take on the American political process featuring an election campaign in which a naive young person named Candide runs against the Death Party ticket, whose candicate is none other than the Vodoun god Baron.Samedi. Candide is assisted by his running mate (a horse) and hindered by his political advisor (a monkey) in his quest for the Highest Office in the Land. For winners and losers alike, it was a fast-moving, unpredictable, and sometimes chaotic free-for-all in the best tradition of American politics. It featured live projections from a MOO as part of the stage environment. It premiered in the New York International Fringe Festival in 1998 and was repeated for the New York Digital Salon later the same year. |
